Ok here I go again with another truck box build. This box will be house a single 12" driver either my SI Claw Mag 12" or my Sonic FX Q 12" depending on which performs better. Specs are as follow,

2.54@30Hz

20"^2 of port

Really hoping to get some gut pounding lows out of this box. My current box hits them decent but I want better more defined lows. So enough talk, on with the pics....

Just started this build tonight. Got a good chunk done. Right now everything is being dry fitted before I get all glue happy. It will be put together with screws and TightBond II. Sub will be set back into the box to allow for space for excursion. Still debating on going round or square...

Some pics of a round setback...

What do you guys think looks better???

I'll probably work on this some more tomorrow with updated pictures..

Let me know what ya think.

Aero's cost money and take time to get here. I have lots of MDF and I don't have to wait for it. The more that I think about it I do like the look of the round setback. I'll probably end up going with that.

Jon

5x4 port? Why so small?

This has been the dilemma I been running into. I would get desired tuning and port area, but the port length would be too long. I would then get desired port length and then have insufficient amount of port area.

I definitely want to know how this small amount of port area turns out so I can try it out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Like you said, I just don't have the air space to get a good amount of port area and have a good low tuning. I'm thinking about dropping the tuning down lower to try and eat up some space. I'd like to give the mag around 2 cubes. Idk, I'll have to run the design again...

Jon

When you drop it lower it will make more vent length which is a problem for me lol

Damn single cabs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think I'm settled at 1.15ft^3 NET tuned to 32hz with 15" of port area with 2kish RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.......Problem with my current box is that I had no room for my amp and extra battery....So I am making a smaller one where I can place the amp above box and the battery in the bed I geuss

Thats the idea, I want to eat up some air space. Sounds good man, what sub you plan on using??? Depending on the size, the box seems a little small...

Well didn't do any work yesterday decided to go out to the bar with some friends but I did manage to get a little done tonight. Here are the pictures of my progress so far.

Decided to go with the square design. I didn't like how the round one was working out so I ditched it. Gotta love the round over effect!!! Thats not as pretty as I wanted but both pieces of MDF are exactly at the same level. I got a little sloppy with the jig saw so when you look close its a little ugly. Learned my lessen though. Next time to get the perfect fit, cut both pieces at the same time!!

Probably won't get any work done this weekend. Might get back at it sunday night, have to wait and see. Keep on the lookout for updates...

Jon

Update!!

Sorry for the delay. Its been a really busy week for me and I haven't had a lot of time to work on this. Made a good amount of progress today as you will soon see in the form of pictures!!

And thats it for pictures for tonight. I have something up my sleeve for the finish but that will be a secret! If it all comes out how I hope it will be very flashy and very "cool" looking. You'll just have to hang with me as the finish might take some time (nothing like watching paint dry, lol)

comments, concerns, ideas?????

Jon

Build looks really good. I'm always interested in the single cab builds. What kind of truck is it going in. And would you mind posting some rough dimensions, like bottom depth, top depth, height and width?

Keep up the good work, lookin foward to more pics

Its an 03 F-150.

Top Depth: 5"

Bottom Depth: 12.5"

Width: 42.5"

Height: 22"

They might be off a little don't really remember the exact numbers. This box is slightly smaller then my current one. I needed a little bit more leg room, lol.

Thanks man! It is my best build so far, least in my mind it is..

Jon

Nice I swear those 97+ F150s have a lot more room behind the seat then my older 80-95 F-series cab style. Hoping I can get about that much space behind the seat though. Still a ways off before I can start building though.
