Reduction of mechanical noise by install

Well I hooked one of my old school round solo baric 8's up to my test amp and put it through some tones. I am extremely impressed with the overall output that comes from the little sub but however once it is pushed the mechanical noise that it makes is very very prevalent or in other words annoying!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Is there a way to reduce mechanical noise in an install?

Two ideas I had were gobs of polyfill and or putting them in a bandpass enclosure.

Were you testing them free-air or in an enclosure?
Because most subs do have mechanical noise, but the enclosure will cause most of them to not be audible.
This is true. i was testing freeair... But these subs make an especially large amount of mech noise and are notorious for just that. For instance the only speaker I own that makes more mechanical noise than the SB 8" is a pioneer 6x9 with no surround. i guess this is a common complaint with these subs.

I was hoping to go like 32 htz ported but you guys answered my question perfectly, not alot of power and a sealed enclosure is what I have to work with.

Luckily I have 3 of them to make amends for their shortcomings //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The original round Solos were not recommended for use in ported enclosures. They were designed for use in small sealed enclosures.

But being there is little mechanical power handling, it's only logical that I use a sealed enclosure and conserve what I have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not sure which particular model of round Solo's you have (there have been many), but the C-series and D-series manuals are both on Kicker's website.
