reduce clipping

my amps bass knob has a blinking light when it's clipping. the guy I got it from said that it'll clip at lower volume because of my stock electrical.. is this true? I have an xs big 3 1/0. stock battery for now. and a decent cca 4 awg running to my amp. he gave me a run of 0 awg and said it'll help performance.

If you keep running your subs with that clipping light. youll destroy them. Clipping is based off your gain settings.

Do this. Turn the gain All the way down on your subwoofer

turn your volume up to the highest you ever listen to it and please dont do max volumeon you headunit.

Play the loudest most bass heavy song you got.

Turn the gain up on your amp till that clipping light starts blinking then back off like 1/8 in.

Now what you just did is found the highest volume/most bass you can use and still get a clean signal that doesnt hurt your subs.

You might think, There is no bass now. Thats because you dont have enough power to your subs. Get better wiring OFC. NOT CCA. and a better amp. youll be happy.

If you run your subs with a clipped signal. You wont have subs for long

would it be smarter to just buy lower power subs? I don't have the money for a quality 1200 rms amp. I can buy some low level Rockford for 50 a piece on Amazon. and they put out enough bass for me.

Selling your subs at this point wont net you anything. youll come up with a loss and get no bass. P3s arent the best sound quality subs but they do have good bass if you power them correctly. MY advice is this. Do as i said with the gain. If your happy with the bass output. Leave it. Also if you have a car that has the sub in the trunk. Try lowering the seats. Your trunk becomes a bass trap if you leave the seats up. If your not happy with the output. Save your money, Get a better amp, get real OFC wiring. You dont need an 1200rms amp. 1000rms will do. I think you have enough power to give you the bass you want. unless you want car shaking bass...then you gotta put cash into it.

try the seats thing. It makes a huge difference.

For that kind of power CCA is fine and will be much, much cheaper. But other than that this is pretty good advice. Typically turn the volume to about 3/4 of the your max and set gains there and don't play higher than that.

People know the difference bro. Dont get caught up on the sonic-E-brainwashing attempt to bleed your wallets more. Given the rms range for his system, after box rise, hes not pulling close to the amount of current that the wire will heat up at, music is dynamic, not a pure sine wave. Its a skewed baised bench test vs real world applications. If cca is complete garbage, why the hell dont they use copper for your street power lines? Its all CCA because of cost reasons and it works well because its the appropriate size. With the copper clad, they retain enough conductivity to remain relevant. Why didnt the video show conductivity ratings for copper clad aluminium rather than pure alumium? Obviously another biased attempt to steer average joes away from cheaper alternatives that will completely work fine for their needs and make them drop needless cash.

If you are running a lot of power, then you should go straight up ofc, but if you are an average joe running 2000 watts or less, there is nothing wrong with running CCA.

Like I've said before my 2 runs of 1/0 CCA can take 500 amps for $80. 1 1/0 ofc can handle 375 amps for $80.

right now I'm running 2 12 Rockford p3 d4 wired to 1 ohm on a ct sounds 500.1 amp. 4 awg cca running from stock batt. 1/0 ofc big 3. I am getting a singer alt and an xs battery within the next month or so. also installing a db 1/0 coca power and ground to the amp. trying to sell the p3s to get 2 p1 15s. but they'll put out their full potential because the rms matches better. ct amps are far underrated though .... that 500.1 moves mountains compared to the 1400.1 hifonics brx that powered it before .... I will not be using any other amp brands for a good while now.

I do agree with you. my budget is just a little tight to be getting fancy right now. when I get the money to install the system I dream of I will be upgrading pretty much every component in my system. just installed raam audio deadener today too. pretty surprised by the difference
