I do not believe JL will sell you the recone kit.

You would need to contact JL to find out if it is a driver they could recone for you (sometimes manufacturer's won't recone lower line subwoofers as it's not cost effective).....but even if it is a driver they'll recone it won't be cheap. The recone for a W7 is in the $385 range, for example.

Most mainstream manufacturers won't sell the general public a recone kit....and for generally good reasons IMO.

understandable, but 400 bucks for a recone is a bit ridiculous

What about companies that offer recone kits, wouldn't one of them have the parts that fit a JL?

The subwoofer is jl but its going to be my first reconning. Trial and error thing, not to concerened with quality of the parts, just in case i fudge it up.

Again, it depends on the model you have.

Recones aren't plug-n-play.

What fits and what won't will depend specifically on the design of the driver you are wanting to recone.

Your best bet would be to contact David from RE or Scott at Fi, tell them what JL driver you have (not just that you have a "JL" as that tells them [and us] absolutely nothing) and begin the discussion of what would need to take place for you to attempt to find recone parts.

Some of the older JL models such as the original W6 used fairly standard off the shelf parts that with some help you could probably find (mind you, it would not be a pre-assembled recone kit)....whereas many of the newer drivers use more custom parts that may be harder for them match.
