Reconing an APX 818

I have an APX 818 motor, anyone ever tried a hybrid with these? Are these motors the same as a RD heavyweight v1? Anyway to build it into a daily sub that does good on only 1200w? Should I just stick with atomic softparts?

p.s. if anyone have softparts that are new or used (I think the spiders bolt to the basket, so might be reusable idk) and you want to sell them, send me a pm please!

Would that be sufficient enough on 1200w??? This will be in a daily enclosure, I don't care about numbers. Just loud over a somewhat wide frequency range.

I've never understood "standard." They're all different, but having a similar size makes them all standard?

iIve never understood standard 3" coil either. I think they just refer to it as many high power woofers use 3" coils. Unless there is a standard to height and how thick the coil is wound. Maybe they just mean standard as in wound with round wire?

I just got off the phone with atomic, said they could do it. I think I really surprised the guy when I said only 1200w lol. I'm gonna call RD and see what they can do. Probably contact FI and IA and have them quote me a price. Will most likely go with atomic unless one company is significantly cheaper than another.

when i say standard 3" meaning most 4 layer coils will drop in, the top plate isnt really tight. meaning it isnt a extreamly tight gap and needs a special coil. MOST 4 layer coils are around 3.170-3.195"od.

now when you talk 2.5 inch coils they can actually be 2.375 to 2.650.

there is different heights on coils and round,square,flat wound coils but we are talking woofers not rocket science here.
