reconing a 3hp

I bought a eclipse ti motor and basket with the plan of reconing it.

I plan on running it on 2000 watts in 2.5 cu ft @31 hz

Ive got 4 10" spiders now i need a cone and coil i dont have the original soft parts so i dont know what size coil to get. I know its a 3" coil but i dont know what size or type of coil to use.

Im on the hunt for a cone thats not pressed paper. so if anyone has any idea where to get one.

The gains will be the money in the sellers pocket. Simply put- the lms coils will be wasted in that motor, if it will even fit without scrubbing.

lms coils were never designed for that gap, they are designed for the TC9 motor, so its not going to be totally linear.

what im was tryng to figure out is what that coil length needs to be an what the od and id is of he stock coil because i dont want to have any rubbing issues

Get your self a caliper and measure the pole and top plate to figure out the gap. Then you will have some clue as to the size of coil you should look for.

i have one. so just anyone that will fit in the gap is fine

No not just anyone. But if you have those dimensions when you talk to someone you at least have the info handy. They will have an idea of the coil that should be used and should be able to help you with your decision. As stated above I would contact someone like tim roy or even scott at fi.

i talked to scott he said he didnt have any with a tall enough winding. ive also talk to tim and he has several i just dont know what i need

no, lms's were for short gaps, TC9 only or the big mamma

the tc9 and 3hp used the same t-yoke OD which should be 2.934 unless i forgot..... that OD gives 33 thousands clearance on the inside of the voice coil for a 3.00" former ID which is what we used.

make sure any coil you use has at least 0.04" clearnace on the outside, even 0.05 or 0.06 is OK, because you have to leave room for thermal expansion. Keep in mind, that t-yoke clearnace was spec'ed for thicker 4 layer coils, not thinner pro audio coils, so it has generous clearnace.
