recones, coil replacement

um...i have a 8" woofer and the coil is blown...is has an aluminium cone...i would like to replace the coil with a kapton...but my problem is how am i goin to do this...cause i want to save the cone and spider...

you could try a ca glue de-whatevr the hell its called...more time/aggravation then its worth though...

the cone was glued with 5 minute epoxy....the industrial kind....so im sure ill damage the cone if i just cut the thing out...and i need to know how ima goin to cut the spider and cone if i would have to use new ones???

its a 2.5" coil

a recone will replace everything except the motor, basket, and the terminal things..everything else is trash

Yeah, theres one posted on here somewhere....pretty sure there is 2 actually.

If its a drop-in recone...its pretty simple

nope....the coil, spider and cone come separately....only the edgin and the cone comes together...i will need to know how to cut the cone and spider to the coils size and so on

what sub is it you are reconing?

the parts should all fit together without cutting assuming they are the same/direct replacements.

You can get 8s for dirt cheap, just go to walmart, or find one on ebay.

i know that i can get a cheap 8....but you gotto consider where i am....and also i wouldnt want to put this one to waste

Your wasting your time, effort & money IMHO. If you have to start trimming and cutting stuff, you are greatly increasing your chances of everything not being centered properly, which in turn is going to make the woofer useless anyways.

I would honestly not even bother.
