Recommendations for single sub in trunk

Hi all,

Been lurking for a while, trying to get some ideas on a sub to go in the trunk of my '06 Accord Coupe. I've got a few in mind, wanted to get some more thoughts, especially for ones I can't go check out locally.

Budget: would like to stay as far under $250 as possible, but not so far that I sacrifice sound quality to do it.

Enclosure: custom fiberglass sealed box behind left wheel well in trunk

Amp: Looking at the Eclipse XA1000, which fits the amp budget nicely. JL 250/1 is also a (more expensive) option.

What I've heard locally: JL W3v3 vs w1v2 vs some lower quality stuff. Definitely prefer the W3v3. Have also heard Arc and their Foose line, but not in direct comparison to the JL.

Questions: 10" vs. 12"? I've got room enough for either, though the 10 would gobble up a little less of my trunk space. Would a 12" be able to push the sound through the rear seats better, and still do so with quality?

Subs better than the W3v3 in its same price range ($220 locally)? Sound Domain has the IDQ's on sale at a nice price right now ($139). The local Arc dealer has some discontinued Arc Extreme's that he's got priced at 139 also. They sound pretty good, but I didn't have anything else to do a direct comparison against, since pretty much all his other subs are SPL subs. He said they'd rank between the regular Arc and the Foose, as far as Arc goes. Again, pretty attractive price. Unfortunately, wasn't able to compare them directly to the JL, since that dealer doesn't carry JL. How would the IDQ stack up to the W3v3?

12" Rl-P.

My Accord doesn't like sealed boxes and back seats folded up. It's a pretty quiet car until you fold down the back seats and port. I'm also not sure how it would sound if you had the sub firing the way you would with the glass box. Don't expect much output although from what I've been hearing, the Rl-P will do ya good.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did some more searching on the RL-P, and it's definitely in the running.

Anybody have any experience with the Arc Extreme? I can get them at a great price, since they're discontinued, just wondering how they stack up SQ-wise. Same price as an IDQ currently on sale at SoundDomain.

Strongly leaning toward the Eclipse XA1000 for an amp.

Eclipse make good amps. If you get a 12" youll have to put more power to it. You could get a 10" and overpower it by like 50watts rms and it will sound good without blowing because its not overpowered that much. You could get 2 Alpine Type E's and and Alpine MRD 250watt amp for like 250 of ebay. I suggest getting 2 10 inches, It'll be good SQ in a sealed box without being obnoxiously loud.

So I'm about to order the IDQ from SoundDomain at $139. From what I can tell, it seems comparable to the W3 and RL-P sound quality-wise, and is normally in their price range, but on sale at a great price now.

i belive you can pick of a resonant engineering Sx 15 for that price.....now that is a very good sub.

I think Audioque is alittle out of ur price range...but AQ owns all lmao
