Recommend an RTA?

What are some of you guys using for tuning?

I wish I still had my Audiocontrol 3050 but that is long gone and I don't feel like paying that much for an RTA again. Can you recommend some programs/setups that are laptop compatible. Free or shareware would be nice....hehe. It doesn't have to be "balls on" accurate, just accurate from 20-20k within itself.

I could care less about SPL. I'm just trying to smooth some peaks in frequency response.

An RTA is a great tool to find the "trouble areas" in your car. It would've taken me forever to nail down those spots without one. The RTA is a lazy man's way of (helping) tuning. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Anyway, I too have a basic dell laptop. All I ordered was:

mobile-audio pre USB

behringer ecm8000 mic

xlr cable

For the program I use smaartlive, but trueRTA will work too. Just do some internet searches and you'll find a crack for trueRTA to get the 1/24db resolution version. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah I recommend the M-Audio MobilePre USB as well. Most sound cards in laptops don't work well with RTA software, so you'll need an external USB sound card. The Behringer mic will need a mic preamp with phantom power. The MobilePre USB has that built in, so you're good to go.
