recievers

yep, two fronts, a couple satellites, and a subwoofer. and maybe a center later on
Doing it backwards - get the center first and then the satellites... Most of your HT information is focused on the center channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

really?......i always thought center channels werent as important......guess i was wrong......Does it have to be up high? The only way i could have one is basically put it about a foot off of the ground. I guess i could always make it stronger and then put my tv on top of it.

I wouldn't get the center channel first if I were you. While it is true the center channel is the most important speaker in home theater setup you can still get by without one til you can afford one. Because in the meantime you can still listen to 2 channel music. If you only had a center up front you would have MONO up front. If I were you I would definitely get a center channel but I would get that last. In the meantime you can use the "phantom" setting on your receiver.

He's talking about getting the mains and the surrounds...

Don't waste your time with the surrounds until you have the mains and the center.

swc - it's commonplace to put it above/below the TV, however you can make it work (although not stacking the TV on top of it!). I have a MTM center channel and stack it vertically above my TV - the way it should be setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It visually seems odd, but acoustically speaking is the way to go.

thanks for all the help.....Are you still making RCA's? I sent you a pm over at soundillusions if you want to stick to pm's.

Don't get me wrong man I know what your were talking about. But I thought you were saying not to get mains until he had a center first. That was my confusion I guess. Is there a surround mode that lets you use just 3 mains without surroudns?? Like virtual or something like that??

why couldn't u have a single dipole rear channel act as two?
We wen't from not getting surrounds yet based on the need for a center channel as it's far more important for movie usage - then you chirp in with this odd statement?

Who uses pro-logic anymore?

yeah a guy wrote

and i was saying instead of using speakers falsely, why not make dipole surrounds and fire them on opposite sides (angled) to make a surround setup?

perhaps we aren't on the same page...

No lemans we are NOT on the same page. Jlaine suggested instead of going without a center he should go without surrounds until he can afford some. Then I said "what surround mode could he go with with until he gets surround speakers since he would only have 2 mains and center?" Then I asked if virtual surround would work in this situation. Please keep up.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
