Well today was a good day (and a long one), thanks to my Second Skin and Pheonix Gold RSD 6.5" component arrivals via UPS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I still need to properly deadening my front passenger door after I finished the drivers side today. I also need to figure out how to get my MDF cut and my new speakers fitted onto them as baffles so my comps can actually go into the door.

Check out some pics here; new material is towards the bottom. I also got my TCAB box in.

PS- Tested the comps off 120w /side and they sound GREAT!!!! I'm ripping out these stupid 6x9s and 4x6s, and going with JUST these for front stage. I HPF them @ 100HZ on HU and they sound really good and LOUD! Will update when I make progress.

Still need to mount the mids in either the doors or kicks; haven't decided, but I got the tweeter mounting started..



The sound stage is decent, still need to tweak the aiming of them.

i got a set of these also they do get very loud and puts out pretty good amount of midbass they sound pretty great for the price,but not nearly as nice as my DLS comps

There's a great how-to article in the newest CA&E mag on how to make custom a-pillar tweeter mounts. Might be of some help to you if you have thought about going that route.

general rule of thumb for the best imaging...

the tweeter should be no further than half the width of the woofer away(from the woofer)

ie. 6.5" woofer, so tweet should be no further than 3.25" away.

I'm going to be purchasing some Q-form kick panels for these since my MDF install was a disaster, pain in the ***, and didn't allow my speakers to fit in my doors right.

Here's the current setup until I get my Q-forms

When I hold the woofers in my hand and slowly raise it higher and higher until it is close to the the tweeters, they sound much better. Proper imaging is a must!
