receiver for 2.1

It needs to have a sub preout also.
Using a pro audio rack amp?

Because if you're just using a plate amp, it doesn't need a preout...

I'd look at vintage stuff, for $200 you could find one heck of an integrated amp, assuming you don't need AM/FM capability.

I have had and demoed Harmon Kardon for years and they've always turned out as a horrible product. They break easily and when one thing goes wrong w/ them so does everything else. Not a fan of any of their older stuff especially from like 2-3 year ago I think. They had TONS of problems w/ their recievers.

I used a Denon DRA-297 in my current custom setup. I bought it at a Tweeter store that was going out of business and only paid $75. These days you don't have to spend a lot of money to get decent clear sound quality. The speakers and crossover you buy/build will make the biggest audible difference. Some people love the sound of tube amps but I just want clean accurate power without spending a fortune.

I also have a Cambridge Audio Azur 840A which I paid less than half MSRP at the same Tweeter store. Is it better than the Denon? Hell yes. But would I pay anything close to MSRP? No. It is not THAT much better. The average person probably couldn't tell the difference until it was turned up really loud.

With the MTM system using those drivers, you should be able to handle 100W per channel. However, watch the crossover points. The RS series mids tend to experience early harmonic distortion due to the aluminum cone design which begins around 2000-2500 hz with the 6" if I remember correctly, while I believe I read that the RS28 must be crossed over fairly high for best results (above 2000-2500).
