Really confused.

m new to car audio. I have an 07 tahoe that i had my local shop put two 10" RE se subs in a ported box with 1.35 cu feet each, then they are paired with a US amps exterminator 1600. I looked on the USamps site and it says the amp only makes 400 watts, so what gives? I think those subs handle up to 1000 right? Can someone please explain this? should go back and upgrade the amp? for the record, this system is loud enough for me, but i hear its better to have more power than less power going to subs. Thanks for any help, im really confused and you guys on here seem to know what you are talking about.

there is absolutly no harm in having too little power...
if the system is loud enough for you now, then there is no need to upgrade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2. but since your new, your craving for more boom will indeed grow. its good that you have subs that will handle more..so in a few months as you grow used to this amp and the power it puts out..just go back to the shop you got it from and switch out for a new more powerful amp.

or get a bigger amp now..and turn the gains down and as you get used to it..turn them up little by little.

as hoss said, if it's good enough, leave it. too little power is only bad if you jack everything up sky high to try to get more volume.

Thanks for the quick replies, but no one really answered my real question. Is this amp too little power for these subs? What kind of power is it making and is 1000 watts on those subs an exaggeration?

Actually someone did answer your "real" question, lol....

there is absolutly no harm in having too little power...

Also, RE SE 10" subs are rated for 600W, not 1000W.

US Amps Xterminator 1600.2 will put 400W x 2 into 2 ohms, and it's underrated I'm sure. So you're likely getting close to 600W for each sub. Amp upgrade isn't necessary as you aren't really underpowering them anyway.

ya, if you have 2 se's, thats about 1200w rms total, and if your amp is 1000w rms, you're fine....you dont need any more power, and i agree with the others, if its loud enough for you, leave it. with time youll want something louder most likely, and at that point you can upgrade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
