this is some of the coolest free crap ive played with. just on the PC so far - no in car or in home testing - it looks sweet though.

the RTA has waterfall, 1\3 octave, or spectrum view. the oscope is freaking sweet. it shows you the waveform output off your summed audio output. just by playing with it it showed me where clipping was off winamp by playing a test tone and rolling the volume. i will try this software in my car using my friends laptop and mic, i will then compare it to my behringer 8024 eq\xover\rta and Behringer ECM8000 measurement microphone. we will see how similar the rta software is without a preamp mic and all that good ish.

so far it looks fucking sweet. tons of cool little options to play with and all around a good piece of equipment to have, if not just to set the volume max on your computer to keep from clipping your desktop speakers.

you can see the RTA on the left. look how shitty my noise floor on my PC is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

and the o-scope next to it. you can see right at the top it is kinda flat, if i play with the volume, you can DEFINATLY hear the clipping. its really nuts how once clipping shows up on the oscope - its so descernable. i was playing with my EQ in winamp and just like its always said - raise the boost, and the clipping shows right up.

i dunno. i thought this software was cool as hell. i cant wait to try it in my car tomrrow. next week i get my RTA in the mail (friend was borrowing it) so ill show you pictures to compare this to a real RTA setup, and maybe everyone on the forum can RTA their own shiz straight from their home computers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lemme know what you all think. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

and yes. its 5am. i had a pretty wild night. somehow a friend ended up on the beach trashed, and was hanging out with a punk rock carnie who lives inside a carnival playhouse thing. i dunno. i had to go get him at 2am, much crazyness. so i have not been able to sleep after i woke up. anyway. enjoy.

I wanna hear more about this punk rock carnie.
when i got to 15th and atlantic, my friend was out on the sidewalk with im, and he was wearing camo pants cut off at his shins, a studded belt, a red rancid shirt, and a mowhawk.

and he was peeing on the street drunk as a *****.

if you know anything about va beach, its illigeal to spit on the sidewalk, swear, or be vulgar.

so apparently my friend found him when he got kicked out of a bar by the bouncer, and the cops were waiting for him, and told him that he was drunk in public, and beat the crap out of him. his face was all bruised and he had a huge shiner above his left eye where he got blasted by a knight club.

after my friend got there, he told him that he had to save him, and bring him somewhere. so the dude said his house was down the street. mind you, theres nothing on that street but shops and hotels. so he stops at this shop and is like - here it is. lol. goes up into the carni horror house thing and has a 2 room apartment up there filled with punk rock shit, beer, and thats it. so they drank a few and i came and scooped him lol.

it was messed up.

but the software is cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i also have another solution, does not take too long to find it on google. but here is a cool screenshot of the RTA software again.

Well, no matter what Windows color settings I use, I can't read the x and y labels on the graphs. I think my mic isn't good enough too. It's reading pretty hot at 16hz but there is no way it can be just as high as 30hz.

Either way, the graph doesn't look too bad for what I'm running. By the way, this is in my room. I'm running an IDQ 12 in 1.5 tuned to 30 getting 100rms, two Cadence CWM6-mids in .5 cubes sealed and two polk 1" tweeters from some old coaxial set of 4x6s both getting 50rms.

i pulled it into my car using my H701 mic on my friends laptop and it actually helped a bit.

DEFINATLY put it on A or B weighting on the bottom middle of the screen when measuring your system. this sets a less intense reading for the lower octaves and midbass because more air moves through the system. it helps quite a bit. i acutally turned off my subs and set the mic in the middle of the car about 4" in front of my ear. i had it in a few spots, and eq'd and ended up with the mid there.

with out the mic frequency weighting it sensed that the treble was like -5~10db lower than things from 400hz and below...

when my buddy comes back up here with his laptop, ill transfer the pics over and post a few. and this week ill get my real RTA setup and see how it compares to the free laptop one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well I tried it on A-weighting and got this graph:

6d1yqo8.jpg

My mic's FR caps off around 15khz and I know my sound card is struggling in that area as well (on-board sound) so that explains the high roll off. I'm still getting a flat bass response down to 16hz which just isn't true. My mic's low end response is around 40hz so maybe that's why.

Oh, and I had to copy/paste my graph over yours since my colors don't work for whatever reason.
