Real REV Speakers?

I was recently recomended the REV series of Pioneer speakers as a really great deal and a good quality set. I'm confused though as to which speakers actually ARE REVs.

They look exactly alike, except the back plate. One says Premier and the other doesn't. Also, the 6.5" is actually less expensive than the 6.25" which made me suspicious. One of them is listed as a REV in the features list while the other isn't. What is the deal here? Which is the real REV?

It's the one that says REV-series. Glad to help.

Its a different year. The 601's were the first to come out in 2004(5), the 161 are an updated version.

Ah alright, I wasn't sure what the fact that they were Premiere was telling me. Too bad they don't have the 6.5" REV's on there. :/

Edit: Er wait, so they both are REV's technically, one is just updated?

yeah, for some reason i think only the 6x9 version ever gets called 'REV' online.

If they have the yellow Kevlar cone, they're REV's.

I really have no idea what's the difference between those two. I think millionbuy has them mislabeled, though. Even in their own spec listing it has them as 6.5"

I think it may just be to go along with the rest of Pioneer's "Premier" line being better than the "Pioneer" line (just look at the subs). EDIT: oh yeah, I have the 6.5" REV's, they rock!

Yeah, you're right... It does say 6.5 in the features... I wonder what is going on. I'm considering blowing a lot of money on audio equipment because I'm sick of feeling guilty about spending my own money. I just may buy a set of these even without a car to put them in. Seems like an insane deal for the future.

Yes, they're both the same speaker. One belongs to their Premier line, the other to their REV line.
