To put a full system into my '96 TransAm. Here's what I'm thinking, if you could give some input on best brands, etc.

head unit (CD Player)

(2) 10" subs for the rear hatch, possibly in a subthump box

new mids & highs

(2) amps-----one for the subs, and one for the mids & highs

please offer some suggestions, and if you think it will be a pretty

good setup. Thanx!!

call a few car audio stores, ask if they have a demo vehicle, if they do go listen to it.when you find a demo vehicle you like the sound of ask what they can do for you for $2500.a good store will put a good sounding system in your ride for that. doing it yourself you might end up wasteing a lot of time and money if you dont know exactly what your doing.

sony all AROUND...
X2, Sony its the best money can buy.

get a nice 8-way comps for the front

and a 4-way comp for the rear.

its going to sound sooooo good.

and 2 15inch Sony subs, they do 5000W each

and 1 Sony amp for the sub that does 12000@1ohms.

All under $350

looking to buy off the net, probably going to put (2) 10s in the hatch of my T/A, and have an amp rack right behind the back seat, one for the subs, and one for the mids & highs. just something high-quality that sounds really good.

hehe... ignore the sony recs... they are kidding in case you can't tell... 2k will buy you way more than you need for subs/amps... I'd do something similar to this:

2 10" Fi, TC Sounds, Image Dynamics, or something else nice. There are so many choices it's hard to rec something right now...

Amps -

Comp Amp - Zapco, DLS, Arc, or something else...

Sub Amp - Whatever matches your subs... Here you are just looking for a stout amp, it doesn't have to be a top-flight brand name...

Sorry I'm being vague but we need to know more to make specific recs.. Such as what type of music do you listen to? For rap/techno you'll spend more on the sub stage. For metal and such you'll want to balance it out and spend more on comps/amps than the subs. Do you plan on doing the install yourself and what type of speakers do you have already.

Also can you do woodworking? Building your own box would be the best route to go for both price and performance.

i listen to all kinds of music, mostly rock, sometimes i like to kick in the rap & let the subs have a workout. I want something all around that will conform to the mood of music that i'm into at that point. The only HU i've ever had was a kenwood, which i really liked, but I'm sure so much has changed since I've been out of the car audio scene, I don't know what's good anymore.
