re8s

so the RE 8's get the lowest, the kodas sound the best and the TB's are mediocre\inbetweenish?

****it.

one of my friend wants 6 re8's for his 6channel oldskool PPI amp (6x100@4ohms)

and another one wants 4 8's that hit real low. so im thinkin RE @ 27hz or so. (we have to stealth them in the trunk.. its gonna be tricky)

any suggestions?

any suggestions?

Yeah.........8's aren't original anymore............

How about they go with 6.5" subs and put twice as many as they had planned for 8s: TB 6.5" - 11.5mm Xmax //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But seriously, the 8" thing is overdone now, and is no longer unique and different. Tell them to start picking speakers for their sound quality and SPL abilities, and not diameter.

I am waiting for 4 RE8s to be delivered. I really dont care about being original/unique, i would rather have a good system. These were very affordable ($35/ea shipped), so I jumped on it.

I am working on designing a sealed box, since it is my first try. Anyone out there whose done this before with these subs, what kind of airspace did you give them? I am trying to stealth them under the back seat of an extended cab Sierra.

People keep saying how RE is so over done now, 8's aren't original, etc. That may be somewhat true here on this and a few other sites, but how often do you guys see this stuff in the real world, not just here on these message boards? RE subs, Adire subs, and 8" sub arrays are still pretty rare everywhere Ive been.

I was just kidding, it just seems like on this site a few weeks or months ago that everyone had a fascination with RE 8's. Just remember that 8's are like RE10's and RE12's except smaller. If folks were real original they would do a wall of coaxiles.

yeah the guys at some very prominent shops around me have never heard of RE. They all appear in CA mags and stuff, but they do agree that 4 8s in a sealed enclosure is a nice setup. Im thinking of going ported now after just getting off the phone with RE. They "heavily suggested" sealed enclosures for RE8s. Time to fire up AutoCAD/WinISD again...

Did you mean "heavily suggested" ported enclosures for the RE8s?

the koda 8 does look nice, but, it wasn't made to be a for sub only detail, it was made to be a more midbass type driver, so it won't perform as well as the re8 will in sub only situations, imo it's a better midbass, not a better subwoofer
Actually that's not true. Remember, they have more linear excursion and use XBL^2. The Koda 8's are a sub, but they have an extended upper frequency response giving them midbass capabilities.

Even with 15's and 8's or 18's and 8's, the 8's will end up running the midbass frequencies, are no longer working as subwoofers, and should not by run behind you.
yes, but i never said to run em behind you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, i'd run em in kicks w/ a nice comp set i the doors
