RE8's VS Tang Band W8-740P

I know the TB's are rated lower rms, but the vids i've seen show a lot of excursion. I already have the RE8's but they tend to bottom out at full volume. Can the TB's take over 200 watts each?

Just wondering if I should switch. GREAT Price on the TB's btw

they probably wouldnt sound good on just a drop in. I would have a box built specifically for the TBs.

yah, i looked it up SVC 4ohms.

btw, the box was built for the RE's, its not a drop-in. Its a ported box, 1.5cubes, tuned to 35hz.

thats my point n00bX, it was built for REs not TBs.

ok, but I am not a noob....when u said "drop in" I thought u meant a prefab. Also,where can i find the specs for a box, or do I need to use the subs specs to figure one out?

How loud can they get, with 425watts and a correct box? My 2 RE's did 135.5db@51hz in a local competition recently, can I expect the TB's to be any louder

considering you didn't pay attention to recommended enclosure specs on the RE's, why care about doing it for the TBs? (optimal ported cu ft. for re 8 is .5 per driver)

ok, I didnt make the box, a friend did, and I "assumed" he knew the specs, since he is very good at making boxes.

well, according to those figures, I guess I had better stick with what I've got.

check my threads, tangband emailed me box specs and I posted them in a thread oh mine. I think it was something like .6 before displacement. Tb also said to not seal them (for anyone wondering)

We had my Hifonics 1206D hooked up to my friends 2 tang band 8's for a while, it was wired to 2 ohms, so 400 watts a sub. They were fine, and were REALLY loud. He has 250 going to each now and they sound awesome. Its in a 2.2 cubic foot ported box I believe, around 35 hz.
