I just spent two days dynamatting the back half of my truck, instaling brand new RE XXX components in the back with the tweeters up high, Alpine 9887 head unit, MD43 BNIB, 4 gauge power to the amp, good ground, brand new RCA's. sounds like crap, not ANYWHERE as loud as everyone says these 6.5"s should be. yes, I am only running two channels on the amp (1/2). I have tried messing with the passive Xover settings, still garbage, messing with headunit crossover settings, garbage. Any help in this matter is appreciated. my 4 channel memphis amp I got for sale with 4 memphis 5by7's sounded better and louder!!

Well either somethings wrong or you were under the impression that these were WAY better than what they really are (not saying there bad, but if you think there the best in the world then you might be dissapointed)

but its not even that loud where they start to distort? gonna call up RE tomorrow and see what they say, just disappointed right now that I went this route and went downhill

Upgraded my ground, instead of a seat bolt, I ran a 1/0 under the truck to the frame which was cleaned til silver color and star washed grade 5 bolted.... still sounds like poopie, I also installed my 250amp OG Alternator...

sounds depressing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I konw that feeling of taking so long to do something only to find out it sucks. Usually when that happens i did something wrong.

Sounds like you tired everything. Is that a 4ch amp? I would try bridgeing it and see if that helps.

I feel your pain. I got my RF T1 comps installed and they are the biggest disappoint I've ever put in my ride. The tweets sound great, but the mid bass just ain't there. My doors aren't fully deaden yet, but a stock Bose system undeaden would probably make 10x the bass these do.

get more power

I run my sets of re xxx off a 300x2@4ohm(450x2@2ohms) amp and they scream and loud would be an understatment so maybe they need more power

I can disort a set of top end componets with a 25x2 amp but of this 300x2($999) amp they scream

hope his helps

1000 dollars for 600 watts? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Just borrowed a Osilly, impressed with my Alpine head unit (9887) full volume, no clipping, turned the amp up nicelike. I guess I thought they were gonna be louder then they are? the MD43 does 150 by 4 @ 2ohm which these speakers are.... I have a MD3D sitting here too, hook that up too them? he hee......

I'd love to, but I just went FULL circle. My problem is that I got this OCD thing, where I want everything in my truck the same. I went from a full Memphis setup to now going full RE, got the MD43 for mids and highs and a MD3D for the sub, got two sets of XXX components and waiting for some $ for a XXX 12" sub...
