I swapped out my 15" type r's for two 15" SX's, Just wanted to know if i should let them break in or just wang them. Also the SX's seem to have more excursion than the type r's with the exact same power going to them is that normal? the SX's sound better and hit harder than the type r's on same power and volume on the deck but just seems like the SX's move more.

in my opinion the RE SX is more brutal than the type r... i have one SX and it bangs awesome.. if ur subs are brand new you must need to break it in...

just give it like.. 5 or so hours in a really conservative gain setting until the spiders loosen up a bit, then give em hell.

I got the subs like 4 or 5 days ago and only pushed them full tilt a few times for a few seconds(just to show people).mostly been bumping them pretty low, Pushed them a bit today to test out Young Jeezy's new cd. thanks to the type R's my sub box smells like burning coils lol.they got a little stinky when pushed to hard thats why i upgraded to the SX's, Figured they would handle the power better.

Since the Type R's are rated at 750 RMS and the SX's are rated at 1000 RMS each, then that makes sense. Do you have more power in your amp to give to the SX's or what amp are you running?

make sure your not clipping the amp at all, type R coils dont get stinky untill you are running a lot more than the rated 750 to them.

I see the fusion in your sig, thats plenty of power.

break them in man I have 2 SX 15's also and love them. giving them about 1400rms or so each

I set the gain with a DMM so there shouldn't have been any clipping to the type r's. They just didn't seem like they liked getting pushed to hard for very long lol. They still work just threw one in a sealed box and put it in my buddies car. I will post pics and maybe a vid too once the weather gets better. I managed to hit a 145.6 sealed with the type R's, was my first time getting metered and didnt really know what i was dong lol. Also the mic seemed pretty old so dont know how accurate it was.
