For christmas i was thinking of ordering an re se. i hear they do really well in the sq department and can still get loud. i was thinking about the 12, maybe a 15. what vc configuration do these come in, and what would guys power them with?

se's are 4 ohms i think. so viper would be good for 1 SE wired at 2 ohms, and later you can upgrade to a second SE, and you will be all set, good match!

also, i heard mixed opinions about them sounding good/bad in ported. if i did go ported, i was thinking of tuning it at 28-30hz, but how big should the box be?

well what i want most is good sq. right now i have a lightning audio bolt sub and 100 watt pioneer amp thats like 5 years old so anything i buy is gonna be a big improvement for me. but for sq should i go with a big sealed box or a ported box tuned really low cuz i want it to be able to hit all the low notes and everything else in between, probably gonna be cut off at 80 hz.

I have a 12 SE in my Honda sealed and it sounds really good! Looking at two more 12's or two 10's for my truck in a sealed box.

lol Springy until I read pioneer amp I thought I was reading a post of my own. I have a Lightning Bolt Series running on 100w from a Jensen amp and was looking to upgrade maybe to a SE. I thought they'd be cheaper though from the Group buy like last time but what are ya gonna do...

I love the SE, sealed or ported. Sealed in about 1 cube they have a really healthy low end. ported its beautiful all around IMO. ~2.3 @ 30hz would be awesome.

who says that? i did a search for the SE and everybody said it had awesome sq, it just lacked a bit in spl, which is perfect for me cuz i dont wanna spend tons of money (im broke so 150 for a sub and 200 for an amp is a lot) just to get my sh*t jacked in like a week

Ahh I was gonna say get something in the Image Dynamics 12"maxv3 because you didnt say a pricerange in your 1st post. I am not a huge fan on the Re's lower end of subs. I do like the xxx and the mt though. But again money is the issue.
