RE SE loud?

Well iv been running my ported 4 10" MTX 8000's for about 2-3 weeks now, running off a directed 1500d, and its loud as hell, tears my car apart. but SQ is kinda lacken, but i am more for spl anyways. but im already up for somting different, i been really wanting to try some RE's out, and join the crowd. I'm thinking about going with 2 15" SE's, running off directed 1500d, perfect match. im sure the se's will sound better, but would 2 SE's be louder???

probably would sound better than those 4 10"s. Just wouldnt pound as much as the 10"s.

A single SE15 almost has as much displacement as your four 10s so I would say a pair should be much louder, easy.

well i was VERY suprized with my 2 12" SE's in a sealed box. so if ur plannin on goin ported the 2 15's would b niiiiiccccee.........id say a good bit louder than ur 4 10's.......my se's sound great by the way

and also, do you think an 18" SX would slam harder then 2 SE's with 1200 watts?, how about a 15"SX...

My 15 SE's are loud....but I'm not sure if they'd be louder than 4 ported 10"s...I dunno if your looking for something new..try it.

By the way, SX is more of an SPL woofer so if your looking for SQ go with SE or XXX.

We tested my 15 SX in my friends car and it slammed and sounded pretty descent off the viper 1200.1 ported. He now has a 15 SE sealed with the same amp with 700 watts I think and it doesnt get that loud but it sounds great i think ported it would do alot better. I would go with a SX though. SQ=SE SPL=SX.

MTX:

378cm^2 (sd) x 4 = 1512cm^2

1512cm^2 x 1.08cm (xmax) = 1632.96

RE SE:

810cm^2 (sd) x 1.8cm (xmax) = 1458 (One SE15)

1458 x 2 = 2916 (A pair)

4 tens have more cone area but you have to take into account the woofer moving. In terms of swept volume, the SE15 is pretty close.

If the SE's are ported I'd say they would almost deffinately be louder....sealed it'd probably be a pretty close match but with better sq.
