RE comps vs CDT comps...

how much power are you giving them? Do they have good midbass for 5.25's?
Running them 100 each. The midbass is solid, but defnitely not very low. I am cutting mine at about 70hz I believe. Maybe a little lower, it has been a while since I set it up. Sound quality throughout the spectrum I am running them is very good.

because of problems with the cl-61a set that i had before.. i would definetely go with the re comps... my cl-61a tweeters would always go out when im bumpin rock or something with a lot of highs... its weird.. i would have to turn the volume all the way down n turn it back up to get the tweeters working again.. i posted something about this a long time ago but no one seemed to know what was wrong.. so yeah go with the re series

thats mostly caused from 2 much power. when running 100rms plus to cl's or any cdt's u should get the 560 xovers and u will never have that problem. if u look in the speaker section and do a search on sounddomain.com a member there compared the re comps against i believe the alpine x type comps and this test was done wit measuring equipment the works. he talks about the re tweeter bieng kinda harsh ect, check it out

I just ordered the CDT EF-61CFi/25 comp set from a dealer down here in Florida (email: lowrideherz@hotmail.com)... very good to deal with and good prices. I picked up a set of CL-6x's too for the back since it turns out all my speakers are blown (and I like a little "rear fill"). Anyway I'm sure I'll be pleased. I haven't come across any complaints about them, they have the more laid back highs (compared to RE set), and they were a **** good price.

Also, I picked up a used Monitor 1 mk 4.70 amp to run them, for a really good price too. I hope that isn't too much of an overkill for the CDT set at 2x200 bridged, while the CDTs are 160rms. Well, thanks for all the info.

I did about the same... not sure since I ordered the CL-6x set at the same time.

By the way how much power do you have running them?

Yeah, don would be the one who knows what he's talking about when it comes to CDT. He was very helpful, and i talked with him extensively on the phone about which CDT's were the best and how much i was gonna spend. Hit him up sometime if you want more insight on them...and... i just ordered the cdt ef61cfi/25 as well...used to use Diamond Hex s600s. peace

What if your runnin exactly 100rms/side? Cause i've got the 5.25 cv's comin and I think they have the 460 crossover?

wit a 100rms exact really its a hit or miss. not all of em do it wit that power its just it can happen. try it out if it starts just go for the 560 upgrade its pretty cheap:)
