RE components?

How good are the RE components? Either the reference line or the XXX line. The reason that I ask is because I never hear anyone mention them. What can you liken them to? Rainbows or Focals? Are they worth the money? Even though the RE site only lists them as available in 6.5", are they still available in other sizes? Thank you for any replies.

from what i have heard the xxx mids are great, but the tweeters are disapointing. havent heard anything about the re line though. i think dkguitarist has some, might wanna ask him.

the tweets can get rly shrill at high vloume, and there's no adjustments on the provided crossover. i have the set mounted in cheapo kickpanels and they sound great there. mids rattle them easily.

*off topic* i grew up in north gulfport 1979-1985 when my old man worked for the seabees. have a few relatives in the area, i last visited there in oct 2005. how goes the recovery?

Really shrill? Even with the silk domes? Are you using the reference series or the XXX series? Was it worth the money? What are you referring to when you said, "Mids rattle them easily." What amp do you have on them?

*off topic* Anything from the beach to the railroad tracks is flat. Some homes don't even have slabs. I live in Gulfport, just north of I-10, and we had a lot of blown down trees, ripped off shingles, which consequently brought about a lot of rain damage, and everyone in MS lost their fence. The fence was a gimme. Yet, the recovery effort is coming along by leaps and bounds, at least in our area. The beach will probably take a good couple years before it's back to normal. Thanks for the inquiry. It's nice to know that other people care.

Both trash.

You'd be paying for the "RE" logo slapped onto less-than-mediocre speakers and a simple crossover.

You can do better for the money.

uhh....

my frontstage is amped by a mxa6004 refurb. i have both RE (component set and a pair of xxx 6.5s xovered with cd1e horns) wired to it. gains are minimally set, and i get the mids to distort before the tweets and horns get too annoying. prior to adding the horns i ran the xxx 6.5s fullrange for s#!tzngiggles and, yeah it'll sound like trash while shaking up my yet-to-be deadend doors. i got my RE stuff secondhand, and the prices were ok fwiw. my xxx set didn't come with tweets or a crossover.
