well i just have the unit alone w/o the manual. and i have no idea how it funtions. wide? sweep? i bought it cause i was for cheap.

Wide and sweep are for adding bass, its a simple parametric eq, you can set both to minimum, and leave them alone. Just plug it into a full range RCA preout, and run the output to your subs. You can find the manual online.
