rca question

well, you could run a set of 4ch RCAs, but they are a bit more $$ than 2chs (obviously). unless you are running active you really dont need 4ch RCAs. does your head unit have 4 RCA outputs (2 sets of red/white)?

yea it has 3 sets... one subwoofer, one rear, and one front.... i want to hook up an amp to my door speakers and 6x9s... and another amp to my subs... if that helps... :)

if you will have a sub amp and a 4ch, you could run a 6ch RCA if you wanted. normally people would run a 2ch off the rear output and use Y adapters at the amp. this takes out the fade/balance features though

you could run a 4ch and you would keep the balance and fade features of your deck.

ok, you can do this many different ways, but if i were you i would do this:

buy a 6ch RCA (2 for front, 2 for rear, 2 for the sub) or get a 4ch (2 for front, 2 for rear) and a 2ch (for sub).

are your amps going to be installed side by side, or are they going to be separate? that will also affect the choice as a 6ch wouldnt work if the amps are like 4' apart. see what i'm saying?

(Basically a channel is a speaker, so you want an rca for each speaker if possible.)

yeah i see.... they will most likely be close together as i will probably need a power block and a ground block... will i need those?

easiest way to do this... list what you are going to install and we can help you do it right. i'm going to lunch ATM but i'll help when i get back, if you still need it.

go ahead and post up what you have. others may be able to help you out. if you have a specific question, try to search for an answer and surely you'll find something. (just gotta dig through the dumb shit)

lol ok thanks... i got an alpine mrp-m1000 amp... an alpine cde-9881 head unit.. and im looking for door speakers and 6x9s along with subs and an amp for the doors and 6x9s....

First off, what car do you have?

Most people here will tell you that if you have a good enough front stage, you won't even need 6x9s at all, let alone amping them. With that said, you have 3 options:

1. Don't buy 6x9s at all, unless you have them already. Spend that extra money on quality components up front. Now you're even saving more money since you won't need to buy a 4ch amp because they're more expensive then 2ch amps, usually. Just get 1 good 2ch amp for the front stage and 1 mono amp for your sub.

2. Buy the 6x9s, unless you have them already, but don't amp it. Just let them power off the HU. Same goes for getting the 2ch amp instead of 4ch. Then get the mono amp for your sub.

3. Don't listen to them and go ahead and install the 6x9s. Now you will need a 4ch amp. Each channel is for 1 speaker, unless your bridging it, although you probably won't need to. You will use the first 2 channel for the front, and the last 2 channel for the 6x9. Same goes for the mono block for sub.
