RCA output low.

Well the other day I checked the voltage of my RCA's going to my hifonics. My pioneer is supposed to have preouts at 2v. When I metered it, playing a 40hz tone, at maximum volumes I would ever listen, the voltage it only .231 vac, on each channel. The front channel RCA's are .6** Vac at 1khz tone at each channel.

My fade is set more to the back at 7 (Out of 15, which would be only the rear)with a FIE (Front image enhancement that my pionner model has)

What the heck is up with that?

The preouts will not do 2 volts all the time.......theres a lengthy thread on the subject floating around somewhere.
under the conditions he mentioned, it should.. or close to it. Much like engine horsepower is rated at a very high RPM, maximum voltage is rated at a high volume. The head unit SHOULD output its rated voltage, given its recieving enough juice from the battery and it is playing a tone (such as a test tone) and its near or at max volume.

Have you tried turning it ALL the way up with all enhance ments (bass level, etc) all the way up? Pioneer may simply be stating the max voltage with all features turned on and the hu being pushed as much as possible.

Yep, im using 0db tones. And I have not tried turning it completley up to the max, but I turn it to 45/60. But you would think that 15 volume points wouldnt make that much of a difference, would it?

So then externally amplify your speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Refurb Profile amps can be had from their internet store for around $70.

I do, with a stupid jensen amp right now. But when I turn it up past 50, I can really start to hear it. It sounds really crappy, not just the speakers, but the bass sounds alot worse as well.

Any reason I was checking the RCA voltage? Well, no not really. One day, I wanted to make sure my outputs were balanced, because it didnt seem as loud. So I checked the voltage, and both were .241. Then I got to thinking about it, and realized that it should be 2.0v. But now I know.

I still think its retarted that I have to have the bass EQ at +6 and the volume all the way up to get to 2v.
