rca cable problem

i have installed many systems in my day but i have never encountered this problem. everytime i turn on the car my amp turns on but theres no sound from the speakers. but if i unplug the rca cables then plug them back in while the car is on, the speakers work fine. but if i turn off the car and start it up again the speakers dont work again.

please help! i gave myself headaches trying to figure out the problem.

Do you have some other source you can plug into the amp? An iPod or something?

i got an mp3 player and a wire to connect it to the amp. so yes.

i made my mp3 player the source and turned on the car and the speakers worked! so whats the problem?? i think i should let you kno i have a stock radio in my car so i cut the plugs on one side of the cable and connected them directly to the speakers.

Where is the RCA input into the amp coming from? Are you using a line output converter?

no i connected the cable directly to the car speaker wires coming from the stereo. i cut the plugs off and connected the wires

Does your amp have a high-level input for the speaker wires?

If not, you need to use a line output converter.

well, now you will need a new rca cable too .... or somehow reattach the ends back on that you cut off.
