Rattling metal

yeah take the amp off the box. there is nothing new about amps going up in smoke because people screw there amp to the box. dont put it in front of subs or port for that matter.
Both my amps are placed on a mdf base under the carpet each one in front of a sub and the port firing in between the two and I've never had an issue but everything is pretty solid.

try what i did to my box: if the back of your box is carpeted, remove it. then put a layer of Dynatape on the back, then put another back (essentially an identical back to the one on your box) over the layer of Dynatape. reduces rattles like you wouldn't believe.

I'd pull the rear cover and see what's making the noise. Might just be the rear cover itself. Can use weatherstripping tape to stop that...
This. I've seen it happen a lot. Just put a piece of folded cloth, or a piece of cardboard, in between the cover and the enclosure. The idea that an amp, that had been well secured to a decently built enclosure, will be ruined because of it, has been discredited a few times.
