Hi,

I decided to change my sub (Image Dynamics ID12D2 V3), So I bought Focal 40 V1 16" Driver...

Taking a look at the user manual I noted the suggested aplication values.. All number in liters and Hz

Fast and Tight Bass 40L Fb 25 F3 46

Punchy and Dynamic Bass 50L Fb 23 F3 43

Deep and Articulate Bass 60L Fb 20 F3 40

So I decided to check the curves and make some changes to create my new box... But WTF

The curves in WinISD are exactly *** focal but BassBox and WinISD Pro show me something very rare

What's happening???

The green line is my model

WinISD

Please give me a hand!!! What do you think?

Don't look my english

Your making the number one mistake most people who 'design boxes' for a given output make..

Modeling a response curve for a totally different environment.

It's not going to look or sound anything like that in the car...

Listen with your ears, not with your eyes. General rule of thumb the person who makes the speaker knows what it works best in.

I'm not even sure that's what he's worrying about, I think he's wondering why out of three different programs with the same exact box / specs, two of them don't follow Focal's projected response.

I can't answer the question though, as it's a bit too technical for me as well. Just trying to clarify the question for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I'll admit the box design programs can be a bit funny though. When you put in the BTL's T/S parameters, don't they tell you to go with a very small sealed box? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I answered it.

He's looking at response curves regardless of an environment that doesn't exist...nor will the speaker ever be in. (an anechoic chamber..which is a far cry from a car)

All 3 of the response curves from the 3 different programs could be radically different because it is how the program devises the parameters differently and puts the 'response curve' in a general form...from the parameters given of the woofer and the enclosure itself.

Yep..something dumb like 2 cubes sealed to get 'x ' response..

It's pretty dumb //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Okay! I understand now, sorry about that. Hah, seems I learned something new and I didn't even ask the question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Thanks Nick. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

missing or incorrect parameters somewhere
or incoprrect enclosuree type
All the parameters of the driver were entered manually by me...

So, not a parameter problem

All the graphs calculated with vented boxes and focal specs for the port (7id x 40 cm)...

So the boxes used in all the programs are the same.

Comparing WinISD vs WinISD Pro is the most frustrating graph, Pro Edition requires a lot more parameters than 0.44 edition (non Pro)

At the end of the day it isn't going to matter and you aren't going to 'hear' a difference.

Pick a box and build it...the bass will come //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

people need to understand that you don't have to ask the question to learn. that's what searching is about. You can learn from other's mistakes and retarded questions.
