rant and rave about hifonics please

I want to push two alpine type R around rms power (500W a piece).

I'm reading some ok things about HiFonics amps. im not looking to spend a lot of money. i was looking at ZEUS ZX1000 and BX1205D.

Just want some input. thanks!

You don't want to start a flame war...So I will try to cover most of it in one post.

The Hifonics line of amps are pretty decent amps for the money. Although they are a little overrated you get some decent power for fairly cheap. They have all the settings a daily set up should need. Subsonic filter, low pass filter...

Of course there are better amps for a little more money. And there are also alternatives in the same price range or lower, That may or may not be as good as the hifonics amp.

So what it boils down to is, Are you willing to take a chance with Hifonics and "get what you pay for"? Or are you willing to dish out a little more money and pick up an amp you KNOW will be great...

i like my hifonics and have had no problem with them. i do wish i saved a little more, but it all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

Oh yeah to put it out there. I have owned 2 Hifonics amps.

interesting. i make good money, so i can spend a little more, i just dont know if there is a point to it with my needs. im not in competitions, and i have only ever heard a few stereos before.

i just dont want to buy something that is gonna contain noticeable distortion when i turn up my music.

There is a thread on this forum that shows that the brutus 1500d is over rated by ~200rms and that it has in the range of 10% THD at that power level. Definatly audible distortion there. IMO spend a little more and get an amp that is ov better quality, you will thanks yourself later.

i just looked around ebay and for 70 bux more i can just get a PG Octane R15 ... prolly a much smarter investment!
