Rainbow Profis compared to Diamond Hex .... or Warm vs. Detailed ....

...considering how often you make changes and upgrade, I can't wait to make an offer on the Rainbows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif ! BTW-did you ever get those manuals mailed out for the D7 series amps?

After paying over $2000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif in just labor charges for a very custom install in my previous vette, then finding out how many corners were cut once I pulled it all out to sell the car....I'm doing this system MYSELF! And to think is was by a JL Audio/Alpine/Adcom/Harmen Karden/ect:eyebrow: . aurthorized dealer who does many high end cars like Lambo's and ferarri's.

On my prvious install the "chop shop" didn't even take the time to pull the inside trim panels off the vette in the rear to gain access to the factory 6.5" speakers. They took the grill off, allowing them to unscrew 3 out of the 4 screws in the speak and then RIPPING the forth one out of the fiberglass to save time(WTF)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif ! Next, I found that all the wires were taped up:wallbash: ...For this kind of money I was expecting solder then heat-shrinking all connections! Next, my factory antenna coax needed an adaptor to make it fit my aftermarket HU....no, they just stuck it in the oversized hole and used tape to hold it in there from falling out:rolleyes: . Not to mention all the cheap wire used in the install. What's crazy is this installer makes close to a $100,000 a year! I know the place VERY well and have heard. This shop does a lot of $$$business w/ my company so sending it back and exploding over it was not an option.

I just finished the plexiglass amp rack,Eclipse 8454 wiring (solder/heat-shrink and CNC'ed mounting kit for dash, no plastic Metra here) and flush mount sub encloser for the rear of the vette to house one DVC 12"(undecided on brand). Since vettes have an odd door speaker size I had some CNC'ed speaker plate adaptors made out of light weight ABS plastic to fit the 2 way 6.5" components (also undecided on brand). At this point I have 37 hours of my own labor in the install, everthing is ready to go, but I just need to finish some loose ends first. I'm thinking about buying a set of CDT ES600 for $300...what are your opions on them for my door speakers?

Also, open to any other's thoughts on this too.

Wow .... and you're from Texas too !! Don't they know they could get hung for less than that ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Personally , I found the CDT's bright for my taste. If you were looking to spend under $300 , I would look no further than Diamond Hex on Ebay for $200 .....

To better them , you'd probably need to look into the $400 price range. They just need proper EQing ......

Blue, i see a viper in your sig. Are you on viperally.com? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Anyways, I was never a huge fan of the diamond HEX. They are not worth as much for the performance. Lack of midbass tends to be one of the few popular reason why the HEXs aren't that great.

Now the Diamond Audio D9, that's something to talk about!

Warmth vs. Detailed..that sounds a bit odd. If anything, I find that there are two groups. Those who favor warmth, and those who favors transparency. Either one can sound detailed.

What kind of person are you?
