Thought I'd repost this bit , as it didn't seem to get many views buried in the other thread , and figured someone may eventually be able to use this with a buying decision ....

" Well ... I drove almost three hours to the White Mountains in NH , and then another three hours through Maine, and back south to home again. All the while I was breaking in the new Rainbow Profi's of course and wondering just how much they may change with time allowed for breaking them in .... and well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif :naughty: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ..... They changed almost as drastically as did my Dynaudios with some break in .... and they have opened up in the upper mids and highs considerably, and tightened up some in the mid bass region. I'm starting to become real happy with them. They still need some more definition in the mid bass , but that may also require me to add yet another layer or two of Dynamat Extreme , bringing it up to 4 total layers. I may also attach an MDF panel to the door's bottom part , to strengthen it even further.

Imaging was really poor when these were first installed , but have since tightened up considerably. I still get an occasional wandering voice moving from the left speaker , then back to center , but only slightly so , and only on certain songs. I believe some left tweeter tweaking will cure that.

While I hope these speakers continue to break in and snap into even better focus , and tighten up in the mid bass just a little more too , I already will say they were worth every penny I paid for them. The tweeter is among the very best I have ever heard in a car , and the kick bass is not far behind.

Even after they have opened up and are much less congested , I would still say these speakers fall into the more warm catagory , and not the lively , detailed one.

Smooth , but not laid back is how I would describe them .... and that makes for great sound indeed.

I'll keep you posted.

maybe you should try putting that mid into a sealed pod (just seal off the backside) and see how it sounds then. i bet you will get a nice boost on that midbass you are craving.

so what kind of music have you been listening to for reference? curious..
Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth

Eagles - Greatest Hits Remasters

Al Dimeola - Kiss my Axe

Halford - Resurrection ( LOL , but true !! )

Orff - Carmina Burana ( Telarc and Dutche Grammaphonne versions )

Megadeath ( newest release ?? )......... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif Torture them puppies !!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

and small acoustic Jazz ensembles ....

Sounds like hes getting plenty of midbass, those are designed for IB BTW

I think he wants a lil' tighter snap, I'd recommend trying to cut a db on the PEQ on the 100hz, 400hz range to see if it clears up, maybe a slight boost at 800hz. Tuning is where its at , at this point for the lil things.

I have TONS of midbass , it's just not as controlled as I want it yet. These Profi's are the "kick " versions , which are designed specifically to be placed in doors.

They're coming around slowly .... It's probably going to end up being a dampening issue , as I'm feeding them 350w per door via Arc Audio amps ..... I'm quite sure they should be controlled well by the amp , and they are already mounted on 3/4" MDF panels that are epoxied and screwed to the door panels with about 20 screws , AND the doors have two layers of Dynamat Extreme on them .....

They may just need some more time for break in .....

Yeah ..... I'll start playing around with EQ in another day or so. I want to make sure they've done most of their breaking in first.

ahh, i really didnt look into what they were made for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just helps sometimes, hinders othertimes. as it came across to me, you were lacking in midbass (as many people do). awesome though. im glad you are happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Your girlfriend still getting the ology sets? If so it would be awesome to get a review against the profis //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif haha – then about the time that happens I’ll have distribution and the price will almost double and everyone will wish they got them awhile ago... The Daytons are defiantly the more lively detailed side of things -- and the ones using seas MP are on the smooth but still detailed... while the Seas Excel... excel -- and no one can afford accuton so... I have no idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but they should be interesting.
