rainbow germs vs boston pros

I just don't understand how the boston's really get that loud when they're only 2 3/4" deep. Where does the excursion come from for them to really perform in the midbass/low midbass area when they're so shallow? The germanium's are about the same depth as them and the power line CS dwarf them, but i see people consistently saying the BA's get sick loud with tons of midbass output.
They use a neodinium magnet. Being about 10x times more powerful than a regular ferrite magnet, they don't need as large a magnet to get the job done. The same way that the old school R.F. tweets used to have a magnet the size of a hockey puck, the same job can now be accomplished with a neo mag the size of a quarter.

I heard the pro's and thought they sounded good and loud. However, I love my Germs and they get loud too especially now that I've upgraded my amp and are definately more detailed. Germs are more of an all around driver than the pro's in my opinion.

No doubt, that Rainbows are every bit as good as the Bostons in performance. I'd be a liar if I said they weren't. However, the Bostons are no slouch, and they are American made. I prefer that when I can. All that aside. If I had a pair of Rainbows in my possesion, I would not hesitate to use them. Thay are good stuff.

I just prefer to run the Bostons as they are as good as 95% of anything out there, and road noise will usualy cancell out the last 5% of the better detail of the $7,000 top-of-the-line Rainbows. Germs, are good. Profis are better, and the Reference line is for guys with more money than they know what to do with.

I've been running my Pro60s active for a while. In the end, the mids are getting about 225w each and the tweets are getting around 40w each. They get LOUD and sound really good doing it. I have never even heard a set of Rainbows, so I can't comment on them or compare the two.

I own a set of the Boston Pro's myself and would also like to add that they are awesome. Midbass will bump hard as long as it is fed enough power and that your baffles or door is thoroughly dynamatted. These speakers can handle enormous amounts of power and sound great!
