rainbow germs vs boston pros

i would like peoples .02 on each of them i know rainbows have a big following but if any of you have heard one or the other or even both sets you input would be great. please let me know why u like one over the other thanks
Boston PRO60's will have a more 'in your face' and up front kind of sound compared to the Germs. If you like dynamic, detailed, music, but don't like it to sound really 'loud', then go with the Germs.

I'm running the CMX Kickbass set active, and I love it. I wouldn't change a thing.

If you're looking for a more agressive output and sound in general, I'd go either CMX Kicks or the Pro60's.

what does a set of the cmx kicks run? the pros are more comparible to them? i can pick up the pros for for under 300 bnib. anyone know of a good place to buy the rainbows?

I picked up my CMX Kicks for $250 shipped from an awesome forum member on here. I believe you can get a brand new in box set of CMX Kicks authorized with the warranty for about $330 shipped, or maybe even less now, since the new lines of Rainbow components have hit the market.

Your best bet is to contact 6spdcoupe, 3.5.max6spd, or PremierAudio for direct pricing on a brand new set of CMX Kicks. If you end up buying a set and you run them passive with the Rainbow crossovers, you'll have no problems giving them 200-220 watts a side....they'll sound amazing, and take it no problem.

Hope this helps.

i am confused the cmx kicks are cheaper that the germs but u like them better. i do want something that is going to be loud and have good midbass. i have the boston sl 60s now and want more out of them. i deaded the doors already

I understand your point, and I would go with the CMX Kicks based off of what you're telling me here.

I've heard the SL60's in a soundboard at tweeter, and they're nice, but they're NO match compared to the CMX Kicks in regards to sound output and midbass.

The Germs are an awesome set of components, don't get me wrong.....they're just not meant to have the 'foward, agressive sound' that a set like the CMX Kicks have.

is there any were that carries rainbows and boston that i could go listen to side by side
LOL Now THAT's the real challenge, I've never heard the PRO60's in person, but I have heard the SL60's, and I've owned 3 different lines of Rainbow speakers, and I would hands DOWN go with the CMX Kicks.

I've heard that the PRO60's get nice and loud and clear, but if it's one thing they lack, it's midbass output. I can speak from personal experience, the CMX Kicks just don't have that problem.

The BA will give you mid bass, but they need a lot of power to do it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how much power? i will be running them off a sundown 100.4 which i am told is very under rated

Geez, I have seen people talking about running 200rms + to each side. I have never had a set though. Do a search here and you will find some opinions. You may want to look at Ignoreme's threads regarding powering Pr060's -- you may get some insight there.

I just don't understand how the boston's really get that loud when they're only 2 3/4" deep. Where does the excursion come from for them to really perform in the midbass/low midbass area when they're so shallow? The germanium's are about the same depth as them and the power line CS dwarf them, but i see people consistently saying the BA's get sick loud with tons of midbass output.
