Rainbow Germs v. SCLs v. Powerline CMX

comments? the germs being the most expensive but the CMXs being almost a "tight budget" high end comp...any ideas?

The powerline is suppose to be the higher line. The CS275.27 being the most expensive in that line at around 1200.00. But when comparing the CMX to the Germaniums, you will have to ask Don because I have not auditioned the CMXs yet. Alls I know is the Germs are blend very well, are pretty user friendly when installing, and kick some *** with the mid bass department.

The CMX being higher up is a big misconception due to RACs marketing them in the "PowerLine" class. The CMX is a bit about the SLC offering the larger CAL25 tweet and Metal coned midbass. The Powerline CS jumps up above the Profi lines offering the CAL27 (remarkable tweet) along with the 6.9 based on the ProfiVandium sub midbass.

Germs are really in a class of their own giving a plethora of variable crossover adjustments,biamping capabilities and utilizing the infamous (redesigned) CAL25 Silk tweet. Which is the tweet that really put RAC on the map here in the US. In which case both companies Arc (ACS comps) and Alumapro (ALC comps) took full advanantage of (in a good way) to up their sales in both respecable sets of components.

Both excel in midbass right? I currently own Diamond Hex's and they **** in the midbass department. Hoping some Rainbows will be the cure, whether it be the Germs or CMX's.

Both would be a tremendous jump from the DAs. Unless of course we are talking the pre 2004 Eton/LPG combo version of the HEXs, then it would be a fair race with the CMXs.

Nope, mine aren't the sweet one's, although I did buy them in 2004. Great clarity but no punch, midbass, nothing.

Not to take anything away from 6spdcoupe and his sales.

But if you want a soft but loud tweeter and some nice midbass. Look into the Crystal SSCS6's. The midbass in them is awesome in a well deadened door (or undeadended), along with the tweeter, it is a very sweet combo. It can be had for a stupid low price of under $200. Spend the rest of an amp (200wrms a channel @ 4ohms) and you will be happy, I promise!

Is the diff between the CMX and the Germs huge, I mean, is it easy to justify the extra 200 bucks? I'm a metal head that craves fast midbass and crystal clear highs. By the way, the amp I'm running is a Phoenix Gold ti600.2, so I should have a decent amount of power running to em.
