OK these are the final choices, been researchin for a few weeks and its down to these two sets that are in my budget

Can anyone describe the differences between the two as far as mids and highs and SQ

im gonna give them 150 watts per channel

so any last words of advice as to which set to pick????

Yes .... The Focals will have edgy highs , and you will find yourself doing a LOT of tweaking to tame them and tune them. Their tweeters are HELL to make enjoyable , especially at high volume levels ....

The Rainbows have a tweeter that is ALWAYS detailed and smooth , and will play louder than you will want to listen without ever sounding strained or edgy.

thanks, how about midrange clarity between the two, which one is more detailed?

I've owned the Focal's and I can say with the right tuning they sound really smooth and detailed. The midbass is sick I had mine crossed at 60hz with 18db slope and it handled it all day.. I recently bought the Zapco Competition set to try out and so far the Zapco's don't sound as clear as the Focal's.

They are fairly close with regards to their respective resolution properties .... The Rainbows pretty much are better in every aspect as far as I'm concerned.
