rainbow cmx - power/crossover

ok i just installed my rainbow cmx 265 kicks ect..

everyone on the forums told me to put 150-200 watts and they love it

but since i have my crossovers not hidden yet - i've noticed once they hit 150ish+ they start to glow... now i understand this is to protect it

but should i just let em glow

or should i change the tweeter level...? lower the power? ect...

what do you mean they start to glow? is there a light bulb in the crossover?

hmmm.. i never new that. i'm running the cmx kicks at 150wtts. no problems so far.. i don't remember seeing the light go on either. i'll have to check again tonight.

i just bought em like last week

and they just got shipped straight from the company cause who i ordered them from was out.

it might be a revision

Glowing is fine.

Those are usually automotive light bulbs, when you apply enough current they're supposed to glow.

i thought when they glow they were burning off power so they didnt fry the tweeters? cause they wont do it at lower volumes

If thats what you thought, then you should know that they are doing what you thought they were supposed to

Like the light bulb they are, if the current passing through them gets above a certain point they will blow, which protects the tweeters.

Up to that point they're designed to put out light.

yea well im jut makin sure this wont lead to long term problems -

my memphis speakers had bulbs too

the tweeter blew and the crossover exploded - and they never lit up lol

but i guess thats waht you get for putting 250 watts on speakers rated 50 =)

(and i did increase it slowly)
