Radio comes on with headlights...

Hey.. need some help..

I just wired up a sony radio in a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Everything works fine, except, when the car is off and i turn on the headlights, the radio comes on with them. Does anyone know why this would happen?

First of all.. lol

Second.. how often do you leave your head lights on while your car is off?

Also, on my head unit, it's tapped into the headlights so that it knows when they're on, and it adjusts the map screen etc...

Maybe something to do with that?

you hooked up the illumination wire to the 12 volt switched power wire instead of the illumination wire to the illumination wire.

you hooked up the illumination wire to the 12 volt switched power wire instead of the illumination wire to the illumination wire.

I've never seen a 12v+ switched wire, controlled by the headlight switch, near the radio, especially in either of my Jeeps.

The vehicle's illumination wire is basically a 12v+ switched wire, controlled by the headlight switch instead of the key; and there's one behind the radio in almost every vehicle. What's probably happening is that the vehicle's illumination wire is connected to the head unit's 12v+ accessory input.

the guy probably hooked the stock illumination wire to the radios red switched wire.
