SWINE FLU!!!!
i'm kind of interested in getting a nice R/C car as a christmas gift, since i don't know anything about them, i would want it pre-built. anyone have any sites for some cars in the three to four hundred dollar range? if i could drift them, that would be a plus....i remember seeing a video on here once of drifting r/c's and thought it would be sweet.

what's the difference between Gasoline powered, nitro powered and electric? i'm assuming electric would be the bottom of the line and gasoline top? that assumption is based SOLEY on the order they have them listed at towerhobbies.com

would an electric be fast enough to drift with?

somebody teach me stuff lol. my g/f wants to know what i want, so i don't want to just pick one and say "that one" and have it **** or something.

Okay bottom line...Gas Powered touring cars go fast but with gas there is the whole tuning/cleaning up to deal with...

if ur new to RC, get an Electric touring car. They go just as fast and are easier to clean. the down side is that they can get a little expensive depending on which one u want and what options u are gonna get. O and if ur looking to drift with an RC car, u actually want to downgrade to a slow motor because the high power ones will be too hard to control

here, chedck this site out for a good idea of touring cars...It is also a monthly magazine soo u should go out and pick it up, it is very helpful

and the Ae TC4 is a very good beginners car

gas=nitro, well kinda, when most people say gas in rc cars they mean nitro, but in the bigger 1/6 cars and stuff you actually use gas in them...

id go with nitro, its not hard to tune them once you get the hang of it, and because the exhaust smells good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but i have no idea about drifting cars...........

is this the car you were talking about? http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/383342.asp

4WD drift?

well u see, u can get a 2 if u want but most touring cars are 4wd becaus they handle a lot better

o and with rc it really doesnt matter because on all four tires, u will have to either make drifting tires out of pvc or u can buy them for all four tires

if u only want to drift buy this

But i do warn u if u ever want to get serious down the line, ie race or even take ti down to a local track, then this isnt the right type of car

If I was you I would Get a Nitro 4-tec One of the best there is really. If you want anything to drift DO NOT GET A Belt driving car...like a RS-4 or anything like that, I would stick to traxxas though, There motors are the Best if going Nitro, and they offer replacements for Cheap....As Long as you follow Break in Instruction's you will be good, I was and still am in the hobby for the last 5-6 years, If you have any ?'s PM me!

i don't think i ever want to get serious, but i do want to have a car i can take down to the parking lot down the street and have lots of fun with. i just don't know what i need, and i don't want to tell her to get me some piece of **** car that will only last for like a week or something.

If you want to drift look at a yokomo prebuilt or a tc3. To drift get an electric because they have the upper hand in torque by far in the lower rpm range. Also an electric is easier maitnence and require less as a battery will last years while a bottle of nitro will go bad after about 6 months depending on your humidty. Though if you don't mind the lack of tunability get a tamiya TL01, though i am partial to it as it is what i have i must admit the car is bulletproof and is built for begineers to get used to the controls.
