"Up-firing" subs...

Not to thread jack but lets see some SUB UP, PORT BACK in TRUNK cars too. Also, sub up/port back is calculated and built the same way as port/sub back correct? Just that the sub is up and not... back?

Both of those boxes are hella nice and are giving me a good idea of what I want

would you guys recommend two 12"s or a single 15"/18" being fired up- in terms of function and cosmetics. I already have two 12 alpine type r's. if I decided to change I'd get a dd3515 or something similar. what do you guys think?

I agree. the single 18" with the double aero port looks exceptionally nice. I think that is what ill end up doing
I'm more of a slot guy because it allows you to easily tune low with the appropriate port area, whereas aeros will require you to go out and spend even more money on thin-wall pvc and 90* elbows to make the port long enough.

Aeros will save you space though.

Thanks for the info.. I'm leaving the enclosure building in the hands of an old friend I recently reconnected with who says he does all kinds of electronics installs. I haven't seen any of his work, but I'm guessing building an aero ported box would take some skill? Or is it just as easy as making any other box? I just have a liking for the aero ports, the first pic in here is pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do. The slot ports just don't look as visually appealing to me.

Boxes with aero ports are actually easier to build than slot ports. Slot ports have to be constructed, where as with aeros you simply cut the hole, and glue the aero in place.
