I pulled the stock radio out of my truck and I've got three wires that I need to use. They are black, grey, and yellow. My Haynes manual shows this:

I know that the black will go to the ground on my harness, but which of the grey and yellow on the truck is the ignition wire and which is the battery wire? What does "hot in acc and run" mean?

yes... if what you have is a 78 c-10 then yeah you have to run a new wire... the old radio was a shaft radio correct? it had no reason to have a constant memory wire because there was nothing to remember... such as digital presets or anything.. so run a new wire... and are you just keeping the one speaker or adding some?

Thanks. Are you an installer? It sounds like you have delt with my type of truck before. I'm not going to be using the one stock speaker and I'm adding a four channel amp to run my two 5.25's and a 10" sub.

What type of wire should I use to run the constant power, and where do I run it from?

just some 14-16 gauge wire... fused at the battery... or fusebox... there should be a spot on the fusebox that is constant and you can put a spade terminal in it... just make sure to fuse it as close to the power source as possible...

how about you steal the constant wire from the steering column. there should be a bunch of wires behind the dash under the steering wheel that hook into a few different harnesses.

you should be able to tap into the constant wire there, or go from the fuse box thats under\in the dash too. eaither will work. i think you should be able to use that grey wire as the illumination wire (orange\while IIRC) - anyone else?
