Quitting Nicotine

Alright peeps.
I'm 50 years old. I smoked for 20+ years. I quit for about 5 years and then started vaping due to a strong urge to smoke. I have been vaping for about 5 years. I want to completely quit nicotine products.
Has anyone quit smoking/vaping? If so, what did you use?
These new nicotine patches are tempting, but feel that I am just curbing one addiction with another.

And please, keep this serious. I am actually trying to quit and am looking for ways to go about it.

I don't really subscribe to "use this product or method". Take LSD or shrooms lol. Quitting is overcoming the addiction which is all an internal mental battle. No amount of changing external circumstances is going to help.

I smoked for 32 years. On April 12th 2018 I decided to just stop. I didn't buy another pack, didn't take another hit. Just stopped. No withdraws or anything. If you are finding it hard to walk away from nicotine then you are focusing on it too much. Feeling an urge then get up, put some headphones in/on, go for a walk. The point is, find another habit to associate with the urge and the urge will go away and be replaced with the habit... like walking.

If cannabis is legal, that's a good way. Cannabis doesn't build a permanent resistance, and it can help you relax during withdrawals, just don't become mentally dependent on it.

You can easily vape non-nicotine juice. You can mix 0 nic and like 3 nic and get 1.5 nic, and you can slowly lower and mix down to 0 nicotine, and maybe use a strong flavor like a mint or menthol to sort of replace the nicotine burn sensation.

I vape 6 nic like a freight train, aegis box mod, ~80 watts. I'm in too much pain to quit atm. I almost quit before I got around other vapors. I started dipping when I was 14, smoking when I was 16, fully switched to vaping in 2014.

You could also use a mix of non-nicotine vape juice and high quality CBD. CBD can be vaped just like any juice can be, and you can use the CBD effect to help replace nicotine, without the addictive properties. CBD can help heal you some, as well. Relaxes the body, if it's good stuff (like Diamond has been in the past)

I smoked and used vaping to quit. Still make my own Ejuice an vape from time to time when stressed. With vaping you have to slowly drop your nicotine levels until at 0. Are you using a pod device with high mg salt nicotine? Or just a standard mod/tank/rda setup with freebase nicotine?

My dad smoked for over 30 years (about 6 months off). He started vaping to stop smoking and about 2-3 years later he quit vaping. He just decided to quit and didn’t do anything special. I knew other people who decided to quit when they had kids and just quit cold turkey. You can do it! Good luck!

Mod with tank. I am down to 3mg nic now. But I vape a sh!tton

If you are vaping a shitton on 3mg it's because you aren't getting enough nicotine to satisfy yourself. You can try a pod system with salt nicotine. It gives you a stronger "nic hit" and hits you faster than freebase nicotine. That way you aren't chain vaping to get the affect. Like any addiction it takes alot of will power to quit though.

I quit smoking with the vape also. I’m at 6 mg nicotine in my juice now. Been about 3 years on the vape now. The vape is as addictive as the cigarettes, so I’ve had problems quitting vaping and smoking cigs again. I think I may start smoking cigars to quit vaping if I can’t kick it. At least cigars aren’t inhaled.

I think those pods are probably way more addictive than like me vaping 6 nic at 80 watts. The nicotine salts are a whole different animal. I don't suggest those, if you're trying to quit. The buzz is more like a cigarette.

He isn't getting enough nicotine at 3mg that's why he is chain vaping. A hit of salt nicotine when needed would be a huge improvement. Being that I make my own I can tweak my nicotine levels to whatever I want (2mg salt nic now) but with store bought juice your very limited in nicotine level with jumps from 50, 30, or 18(salt nic) and 12, 6, and 3(freebase).

If you have a store that makes in house juice you can get them to do whatever nicotine level you want. I personally would either jump back up to 6mg and slowly drop 1mg at a time until you quit or go to 18mg salt nic in a pod system and slowly drop nicotine levels.

A huge percentage of people who go to vaping to quit smoking actually prefer salt nicotine with pod devices. Its also nice to not have to carry a heavy mod around everywhere. Just slip a pod device in your pocket.

I smoked cigs in high school “to be cool” and then went to dip and then chew in college. It was always off and on. Went to the oil field and smoked a pack of menthols every day but once I left the oil field, I had no desire to smoke. Started hanging around smokers a couple years later and would smoke a lot when hanging out but never or very rarely without them. I haven’t had a cigarette in over 7 years now and have no desire. I consider myself lucky that I never got addicted.
