Quick sq question

My dad was telling me he didnt want to buy an aq amp due to the 1-5% thd at 14.4 volts on the 1200d. But the 2200D has 1% and lower is supposed to be cleaner. He said he thinks it will distort and what not, but he was comparing a 1 ohm 1% thd, to a 2 ohm .05% on a different amp. This may sound dumb, but I thought higher ohm is more resistant and can cause clipping easier at the same volume of a lower ohm. Idk, i probably have this all wrong, but I dont want to explain wrong, or feel like a complete *******. Could someone please clarify this whole thd thing to me?
