quick question...please help

i am a noob at car audio so please dont make fun of me.

i have a 2005 BMW 325i with 2 12 inch subs powered by a 2000 watt amp. i used to have a 800 watt amp but i blew the amp cuz i pushin the max wattage on them so i changed it to the 2000 watt amp. but i didnt changed the wires which were like 8 gauge wires. so after i reinstalled the amp, a few days later the fuse blew. so i just replaced it thinking it was nothing. then it blows again and this time it blows my right sub. so i replace the fuse and replace the blown sub. after a few weeks, the fuse and the right sub blows again. so i ask a friend who is somewhat familiar with car audio and he says to replace the wires with fatter wires and change the setting on the amp. he does it for me and i put a new sub in. a few months later...the sub and the fuse blow again. what do you think the problem is? do you think that when my 800 watt amp blew it messed up the wire connecting the subwoofer to the terminal in the enclosure or something else? please help...im trying to get this fixed soon. thanks

Hook up a volt meter to the power terminals of your amp. If it doesn't drop below 10.5-11 at full volume with the car running your electrical is ok for average use (some may have different thoughts). 8 guage is too small for 2000WRMS unless it's a really short run, though.

Note: Lower voltages require more current to get the same power. Higher current requires fatter power cables for less resistance and thus less heat. So, anytime your voltage drops, you get increased power loss and your system has to work harder for the same wattage.

You need 0 gauge wire for that amp it's power hungry. Also if your head unit you have on lopud or anything like that turn it off and on the amp itself turn off bass boost and turn your gain down FOR NOW. Until your do get the bigger wire. I still think that much power and that much bass is way to much for any car.
