Quick question on rms rating of speakers

Is the rms rating on the internet websites for a pair of speakers refering to each of the speakres taking that many watts or both together?

Heere are the speakers I am looking to buy:

So will those two speakers need 100 watts rms or 50rms? If I run four, will an alpine headunit with an rms power of 22 X 4 have enough to power four of these speakers or should I buy a 4-channel amp?

Should be per speaker.

Though some cheap and low end companies will list the "RMS" power as a total for the pair to make them appear better than they are.

But any reputable company will have the RMS listed as per speaker

Well, they are rated for 50w RMS each. They don't necessarily need that much power.

You could run them off of the headunit.

Though a 4-channel amp would definitely be an improvement. But if your budget is tight, the headunit will work.
