Quick Question on ipod use

I have a Dual XDM-A7715 200-Watt CD/MP3/WMA Receiver. I'm currently using an IPC2M - iPod Interface Cable to connect my iPod. But, when using that wire it disables all use of the iPod while playing music. Is there any way to disable that function and be able to control my music with my iPod while still using that wire???
