Quick question on dvd player install

I am currently in the process of installing a Panasonic CQ-VD6503U DVD player into a 1996 Nissan Maxima. The unit is completely operational, though I am curious to know if there is a way to override the feature that needs the car to be in park before watching a DVD. In the manual it states you need to run a cable to your parking break sensor and I was wondering if I could somehow skip this step so I can utilize the DVD player while the car is driving. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Pioneer 5700 DVD and am trying to build a relay to allow for the use of the DVD while the car is in motion. I have heard of the switch in-line with the parking brake and then grounding that line, but it seems like you have to flip the switch several times to make it work.

Would a relay solve this problem? The Pioneer is from 2007 and was wondering if there was anyting new in these versus the earlier models.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Dan
