Quick question about Multiple Batteries

Just wanted to know if I had all of this wired up right. Any info is cool, thanks

I have a red top up front, then 4 gauge ran to back.

4 gauge ran to positive on batcap 800, and batcap grounded to frame.

Then positive off batcap ran to amp and negative off batcap ran to amp.

Does this sound right? Just wanted to make sure so I don't mess anything up.

sounds good, some would run a negative to the back also. Ive heard it gives you about .5 more volts under full tilt. idk, i have mine ran like you, no issues. I will probably run a negative to the back batteries to see if i see a difference.

why 4 awg? should do bigger so you can upgrade power later.

4 ga is just what I had run in my old car and ran it in this new one. I will end up running a bigger wire to it. It seems to work pretty good, how do I charge the baqtcap a little or witll it do it on it's own? It is sitting at like 12.16v do I need to put a slow charge on it or something?

do you have the second battery fused

Disconnect the negative on the batcap and take a voltage reading of the battery under the hood after charging it or running the car for 15 mins or so. The hood battery may be a crappy wet cell with a low voltage or it could be going bad. Either way, it may be draining your batcap down to the same resting voltage of the front battery.

You can do the same test on the batcap to see if it may be the batcap going bad.

I think he is referring to the batts floating voltage

Just to make sure, you suggest running the power AND ground from the main battery back to the 2nd battery? and not just grounding the 2nd one close to where it's going to be? i wanted to make sure is all. and i agree 110% about the 4awg wire...at least run 2 or 1 if you're going thru the trouble/time to install the 2nd battery.

From batcap.net:

"(Ignore statements to the contrary) When grounding your BATCAP, avoid chassis grounds."

Might wanna rethink that.

EDIT: Go to http://batcap.net/Installation.html and look at fig.4 in the picture, then ask if chassis grounds are ok... a chassis ground for that batt is the WORST possible thing lol..

OK, according to the diagram I am OK, I did a number 3. The batt cap when I got it was sitting at 12.16v haven't checking it since I installed it. Seems to be working but I still get a little dimmig. I need to do big 3 but I'm lazy, lol. I will eventually run 0 ga all the way aroud, but for now money is allowing the 4. Should I just run the other 4 gauge I have to it? someone told me 2 4ga is the same as a 0 is that true?

that makes absolutely no sense...... do not speak if you don't know what your talking about.
That Batcap is nothing more than a spiral wound AGM battery. All AGM 12 volt batteries have a resting voltage of 12.8-13.1 volts. If the batcap is measured at 12.18 volts resting, it would indicate that it is slightly discharged.

Maybe you should follow your own advice.
