im going to purchase these if they are gonna fit. i have a 92 explorer sport. on crutchfield, it says my car has 6x8's in the front and back. the cdts are 6.5". im wondering if they will fit in the stock locations with the stock grills in my car. 2 9/16 inches is the max depth i believe. yes or no? im hopin to buy them in the mornin if i can get a response tonight. thanks

actually my depth is 3 inches so i think im in the clear but oen more question. what cheap and good amp would be the best for these speakers? what are you guys runnin to the cdt cl61a?

Warning I bought these for my Expedition and the Scorche plastic adapters dont work. They say they adapt 6x8 to 5 1/4 or 6.5 but the mids dont sit right. I had to cut out some adapter plates from left over plywood. Also the depth is really close to the window in my truck. The quarter inch raise was a good thing.

just about anything that meets or comes close to the RMS ratings of the speakers. "a watt is a watt" as they say. look for something that has decent electronic filters built in if you arent getting crossovers. all the rest is personal preference. (warranty, styling, features, etc.)

yea thats what i was thinking. i mean i can pick out an amp im not an idiot, but im not sure which brands overrate, underrate, or are spot on with their wattage ratings and which ones have good build quality. right now im thinking profile ca200 or the cl300 . anyone have any experience?

nothing wrong with profile. excellent choice for the money. they are well built, put out their rated power, and are reliable. a couple guys on here have the California series amps. Im not too sure about the Baja series but they cant be much worse. Just avoid anything really lower end like Pyle, Legacy, Audiobahn (overpriced), Rockford Fosgate (IMHO)....just about anything that has RMS ratings you can pretty much trust those to be true, just make sure you know at what voltage input and frequency they are rated at. The new CEA-2006 rating system is a good sign that you can trust the power ratings of an amplifier. Just about all the major manuacturers have this certification. Its not perfect but its at least a decent guide.

My HD62's are being pushed by a Nemesis nx600, gives them plenty of power.

I've got an MTX Thunder6304 powering my CDTs and they sing beautifully. Got it off eBay brand new for a lil less than $100 U.S., and the birthsheet says 67 W x 4. This is my second MTX amp, I used to have a Thunder4244, and I recommend them highly. They usually underestimate their amps' wattage, BTW.
